This is an ideal trip for people who are not ready to get so tired driving around parks and parks. Despite the fact that you will not go longer distances than other safari programs, you will still be able to see the big 5, trek around the Udzungwa mountains, relax and see the dolphin in the Northern beach of Zanzibar.
Pick up from Dar es Salaam early morning around 6:30 a.m and then drive 5 – 6 hours with picnic lunch on route to Mikumi National Park for afternoon game drive. Mikumi National Park is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the northeast, and the Rubeho Mountains, Udzungwa Mountains and Rift Valley escarpment to the southwest. As part of the Selous ecosystem, it benefits from the highest game density of the entire conservation area. The landscape here is beautiful and the wildlife prolific. You can expect to see animals like elephant, giraffe, zebra, eland, kudu, wildebeest, antelope, tree-climbing lion, leopard, wild dog, jackal and an amazing array of colorful birds. Dinner and overnight at Mikumi bandas.
Day 2: Mikumi national park game drive
Full day of game drives with packed lunch boxes around Mikumi National Park which has a wide variety of bird species, large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephant and, near the water holes, lion, leopard and hippo, zebra, wild dog, python, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland and other antelopes will be seen. Several observation towers enable you to view the park in its entirety. Mikumi National Park is mostly Miombo woodland with its gently rolling hills. At around 1530 hours you will leave the park to go and overnight at Udzungwa national park to get ready for the second day activity.
Day 3: Udzungwa mountains national park
On this day you will first do walking safari with the park rangers before going for a game drive.
You’ll go for up the Sanje waterfalls for a refreshing swim in the cool water hole at the base of the falls and stunning views. The uniqueness of Udzungwa National Park lies in its biodiversity in hosting a variety of animals and plant species as Udzungwa has 11 primate species, two of which are not found anywhere else in the world. The Red Colobus and the Sanje crested mangabeys, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and Sable Antelopes are some of the residents in this park. A good range of birdlife is present which includes Rufus winged sunbird, Iringa akalat. At around 1400 hours you will leave the park and head to Mikumi villages to have another adventure with the Masai people, you will have an opportunity to interact with them learning their culture including their dances. Overnight will be camping.
Day 4: Depart for Zanzibar
This day our driver will take you to Dar es salaam where you will catch your ferry to Zanzibar.
On arrival to Zanzibar you will meet our driver representative who will take you to the North beach of Nungwi (Amaan bungalows for overnight.
Day 5: Zanzibar holiday:
On this day you will do stone town tour and prison Island trip.
Day 6: Dolphin tour and Jozani forest:
There are 2 main species of dolphins in Zanzibar, the humpback and the bottled nose dolphins. On this day you will have a chance to swim with the dolphins and after the swim you will go to Jozani forest where you will have to see the only monkeys in the world that are found in Zanzibar. The monkeys that eat grass and not fruits.
Day 7: Safari blue:
After breakfast, our driver will take you to Fumba village to do safari blue:
Safari Blue starts from the village of Fumba an hour drive from Amaani bungalows. Fumba is the most convenient location for exploring the wildlife, isolated sandbanks and rugged island scenery of the Menai Bay Conservation Area.
Our aim is to provide our customers with a truly memorable experience using the best Zanzibar has to offer, while making a positive difference to Zanzibar and it’s people.
This trip starts from the village of Fumba in South West Zanzibar and we will take you to see the dolphins, sandbanks, islands and coral reefs of Menai Bay, a beautiful conservation area.
In the morning we set down on one of the beautiful sandbanks where one can relax, swim or snorkel. There are plenty of good quality snorkeling equipments and the experienced snorkeling guides will show you the pristine coral reef, which teems with tropical sea life. Instruction is also available for beginners, fresh coconuts and local snacks are available throughout the day.
After snorkeling we go to Kwale island where we have our “desert island” restaurant. The buffet lunch includes fish, slipper lobster, calamari, rice and sauces all served hot from the grill. The crews also prepare and present a gastronomic fruits tasting with a large selection of delicious tropical fruits, ice cold sodas and mineral water, a delicious Zanzibar seafood lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster and coffee.
When the tide permits we explore the natural lagoon found on Kwale island. The lagoon is surrounded by a mangrove forest and we will take you swimming in the lagoon for an unforgettable experience
The dhows are traditional sailing boats, hand-built from African mahogany and finished to the very highest standards. They are comfortable and well equipped with outboard engine, VHF marine radios, gas inflatable life jackets, sunshade, boarding ladder, waterproof bags and first aid kit. We hold marine and public liability insurance.
Safari Blue explores the Menai Bay Conservation Area, which is home to two different species of dolphins, the Indo-pacific humpback and the bottlenose. We are lucky enough to see dolphins on 85% of our excursions.
MenaiBay has been designated as a Conservation Area since 1998 due to its outstanding natural beauty. The bay has a number of pristine sandbanks, naturally carved by the sea, wind and waves. The sandbanks and uninhabited islands that litter the bay are perfect stepping stones to explore the area.
Join the crew for a sail on an “ngalawa”- a local canoe with outriggers which has been carved from a single mango tree.
As Safari Blue comes to an end and we return to Fumba by traditional lanteen sail, the full splendour of the African sunset reveals itself. After the tour, driver will transfer you to

On this day you will enjoy your free moment at the beach hotel. For those who want to do water activities can make arrangement with the hotel or you can just have a sunbathing on the beach.
Day 10:
This will be the last day to say bye-bye to the Tanzania and Zanzibar land. Our driver will pick you from your hotel to the airport to catch up with your flight back home.
